Have you been to a big sporting event or concert in the last 12 months? What’s been your pain point? Let us guess, getting to and from the venue – and parking!

It’s the single biggest dread when you buy a ticket to see your favourite team, music band or concert. To combat this challenge, one of the largest areas of growth for valet parking services internationally has been large stadiums and venues. By providing valet parking services they not only take away the agony away for visitors getting to the venue with big crowds, but they can offer a premium service adding to their revenue stream.

Let’s face it, if you’ve paid hundreds of dollars for your concert or sporting tickets, you’re likely to feel ok to fork out a bit more for the ultimate arrival experience. Imagine having a ticket at a corporate box, and seeing your favourite football team. When you drive to the stadium, a valet parking attendant takes your car and parks it somewhere for you. It would be a dream. Then, just before the game ends, you text to say you’re coming for your car and it’s waiting for you as you walk out of the stadium. You hop into your car and drive away!

For stadiums, adding value by increasing premium offers adds to the experience – and revenue. The biggest ‘wow’ factors are by creating offers that aren’t expected. For those fortunate enough to experience a corporate box or catered function space at a stadium, it’s pretty special. Add to that the comfort of not worrying about how you are going to get there and get out would be a premium service people would talk about.

In recent research (Forbes, July 2022), the research states people would pay extra for superior services, so if you added valet parking it could literally pay for itself, or better still turn a profit. Imagine that!

The research said “58% of customers will pay more for better customer service, and younger people were even more likely. Younger generations are more willing to pay more than older generations. The study found 62% of Millennials and 60% of Gen-Z customers will pay more for great customer service versus just 46% of Baby Boomers.”

Plus it provides a competitive edge for your venue or stadium, attracting the likes of the bigger and more attractive games and music performances. In Los Angeles, one of the largest stadium crypto.com stadium calls this service SW VIP Valet, because it offers exactly that – a VIP service.

In a recent parking report for the new Sydney Football Stadium, it suggested if more than 40,000 people were to attend the stadium of 53,000 maximum capacity there would be no more parking available at adjacent car parks. If a section could be allocated to valet parking, more cars would be able to be parked in an area increasing the efficiency of space. There’s no doubt in large crowds, extensive operational plans would need to be done, but as a concept, valet parking makes perfect sense for these large scale venues.
